COUN 566 - Practicum in School Counseling 3 Credits Students complete supervised practicum experiences that total 100 hours. The practicum provides for the development of individual counseling and group work skills under supervision. The practicum includes:
- A minimum of 40 hours of direct service with clients appropriate to the program for experience in individual and group interactions
- At least 20% of all direct service hours must be in individual counseling
- At least one-fourth of these hours must be in group work (classroom/developmental guidance)
- A minimum of one hour per week of individual site supervision (using audiotape, videotape or direct observation) over a minimum of one academic term
- 1.5 hours per week of group supervision on campus
- One hour per week of individual or triadic supervision on campus
- Evaluation of the student’s performance throughout the course including a formal evaluation at the completion of the practicum
