3 Credits Pathophysiology and Pharmacology I focuses on pathophysiologic and pharmacologic concepts related to Nursing. The emphasis of the course is the principles and concepts of disease processes and drug therapeutics. The course addresses common pathophysiological problems experienced throughout the lifespan. The pharmacodynamics, therapeutic uses, side effects, and nursing implications of various drug groups will be studied and related to patient-specific observations, assessments, interventions and evaluations that promote and restore health. Prerequisite(s):CHEM 170 - Principles of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry, CHEM 240 - Biochemistry of the Human Body and NURS 200 - Foundations of Professional Nursing
