BIOL 534 - Cardio-Renal Physiology


3 Credits
This course is an exploration of cardio-renal physiology with the focus on integration of the function of cardio-vascular and renal systems. It will explore the most common clinical conditions, such as heart disease and cardiac or renal failure as a result of the alteration of normal physiology. It includes the evaluation and assessment of cardiac and renal function and the most common causes leading to dysfunction or failure. It focuses on cardiac remodeling, compensation and acute or chronic cardio-renal failure. It also covers most commonly used pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management of advanced conditions, including implantable devices and/or organ transplantation.
