SPEC 541 - Creating Effective Systems of Support
3 Credits
In this course, students will develop the strategies and mindsets necessary for effective collaboration to support neurodiverse learners across a range of settings. Students will explore common challenges to collaboration with parents and other members of the educational team and develop proactive approaches for creating positive, collaborative relationships. Emphasis will be placed on transition planning for neurodiverse learners, with an examination of relevant legal mandates and goal setting as it relates to employment, postsecondary education, and independent living/community engagement. Additional emphasis will be placed on involving the individual student in their own transition planning in a meaningful way.
