EDUC 553 - Materials and Curriculum Development for TESOL

3 Credits
Materials and Curriculum Development for Bilingual Education and TESOL introduces students to theoretical and applicable pedagogy focused on students who speak a language other than English in the home. Candidates explore dimensions of teaching and learning of English learners through a lens of backward design, and culturally and linguistically sustaining curriculum. Readings and discussions grounded in current research in the fields of pedagogy, linguistics, and cultural studies, will examine multiple forms of ELD curriculum design. This course focuses on the development of effective teaching and learning at the classroom, school, and district level.
