SPEC 565 - Supporting Mental Health Needs of Neurodiverse Learners 3 Credits Examines the comorbid mental health diagnoses commonly associated with school-aged students with ASD and other neurodiverse learners. Focus on how mental health can impact one’s ability to access every aspect of the school curriculum. An emphasis on strategies for successful collaboration with team members to promote successful programming will be covered. Students in this course will develop an empathetic approach to the mental health needs of diverse learners. Students will be required to spend 5-7 hours in a school setting to complete observations.
