EDUC 440 - Student Teaching & Student Teaching Seminar: Secondary 12 Credits Student Teaching experience required for undergraduate secondary licensure candidates, grades 7 through 12. This 15 week classroom experience focuses on the practical application of instructional theory to facilitate the teaching-learning process. Under the supervision of qualified secondary educators, candidates will plan, instruct, and assess for the greatest positive impact on student learning; teach and co-teach individuals, small groups, and whole classes; participate in parent conferences, faculty meetings, in-service workshops; and attend mandatory on-campus seminars. Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the education department at least one semester prior to student teaching; completion of general education and licensure courses with minimum grade requirement met; passing scores on Praxis II reported to the licensure office; successful completion of student teaching application by February 1 for fall student teaching and September 15 for spring student teaching. Other: No other course work may be taken during the student teaching semester. Fee required for Consortium students.
