PHCY 836 - Pharmacotherapy of Infectious Diseases 6 Credits A study of the basic principles of antibiotic action including, for each specific antibiotic class, the mechanism of action, routes of administration, disposition, contraindications, adverse reactions, and clinically relevant drug interactions. Also included is an integrated study of anatomy, pathophysiology, physical assessment, pharmacology, therapeutics, clinical pharmacokinetics, patient care, alternative and complementary therapies, pharmacoeconomic issues, medication use in special populations, and review of pertinent drug literature as they relate to major infectious diseases.
