Institute for Latino Community Practice

Latino Community Practice Certificate
Latino Community Practice Minor

Latino Community Practice initiatives have been gaining momentum at the University of Saint Joseph for over a decade. In July 2012, the Institute for Latino Community Practice was founded in the School of Graduate and Professional Studies.

In accord with the mission of USJ, the Institute for Latino Community Practice serves as a pipeline for progress to prepare Latino students and others working in Latino communities for culturally and linguistic relevant practice and present them with leadership opportunities so they can serve as catalysts for change.

We promote our mission through University courses, major events, conferences, seminars, lectures, workshops, performances, programs and other activities. This builds upon signature events such as the Latino Community Research Lecture, the Caritas Conference, the reception for students in Latino Community Practice and the Adelante Circle of Support.

By developing skills, expanding knowledge, promoting scholarship and strengthening community, the Institute is true to the mission and honors the values of the Sisters of Mercy and the University of Saint Joseph.
