The Accelerated Master’s of Science Degree Program in Biology will allow qualified, motivated students to complete a bachelor of science in Biology and a master of science in Biology in five years. Students who are accepted into the program will begin taking graduate level Biology courses during their junior year. Most students will complete 6 credits of graduate work prior to graduating with their B.S. degree, and will complete another 24 credits during a fifth year to satisfy the required 30 credits for the M.S. degree.

Requirements

  • Overall GPA of 3.25 or higher at the end of the sophomore year

  • Grades of B or better in all science courses

  • Review of application by the Biology faculty, and interview with Biology department chair

Students accepted into the program will take one graduate level course during each semester of their senior year. Students will normally complete 6 credits of graduate study prior to receiving their B.S. degree. These 6 graduate credits will apply toward both their undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Requirements for the master’s degree include successful completion of a comprehensive exam, and completion of 30 credits of graduate level courses with a GPA of 2.67.
