Applications for the Graduate School at the University of Saint Joseph are always accepted year-round on a rolling admissions basis. The majority of graduate programs review candidates on a rolling admissions basis. However, several programs have their own deadlines. For more information about admission to a specific program, please contact the Office of Graduate Admissions, graduate@usj.edu or 860.231.5261.
Starting the Admission Process
All applications for graduate programs are available on www.usj.edu/grad-application. Once an application is received and processed candidates will be sent - by email and standard mail - login credentials to our admissions website. They will be able to track their folder and see what admission requirements are needed. All admission documents should be sent directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
1. Non-degree Entry
If you wish to complete coursework outside of a degree program, you are a non-degree seeking candidate. To enroll as a non-degree seeking student, you must submit these admission documents:
- The Non-Degree Seeking Application, www.usj.edu/grad-application
- A non-refundable $50 application fee, paid at www.usj.edu/payonline
- Official transcripts from all degree-granting institutions, which must have the date the degree was conferred. You must also send transcripts from other institutions you attended that show you have the required GPA and coursework for your USJ program.
2. Matriculation
Candidates must apply and submit all of required documents to complete their admission file before their file can be sent to the specific program they want to enter. For any of our graduate programs, you must submit these documents:
- An application, www.usj.edu/grad-application
- A non-refundable $50 application fee paid at www.usj.edu/payonline
- A sealed, official transcript showing a conferred bachelor’s degree (or master’s degree if applicable) from a regionally accredited institution

Individual programs may have additional requirements listed in the catalog or USJ website. You will also be able to see the requirements on the admissions website once you have received a login from the Graduate Admissions Office.
International Applications

See International Admissions for more information.
Readmission Policy
Admitted students who have withdrawn, been dismissed, or have been administratively withdrawn due to lack of attendance may apply for readmission through Graduate Admissions. Their original admission is no longer valid.
Once a new application is processed, Graduate Admissions will request the original file from the archives. However, candidates must meet the current admission requirements of the program. Candidates may need to submit new documents to support new admission requirements, to update documents, and to submit additional documentation to strengthen the file, such as recent transcripts from other colleges.
Readmission Process
When your file is complete it will be sent to the director of the program you are interested in. Candidates will be notified when an admission decision has been made, by both email and standard mail. To be eligible for financial aid, candidates must be admitted to a master’s or doctoral degree program and taking a minimum of six credits a semester.
Incomplete Applications
Graduate Admissions and Academic Services will keep incomplete applications on file for one year. If an application has not been completed after one year, it will be considered inactive and the candidate will be administratively withdrawn. Incomplete files are destroyed after one year if the candidate has not been admitted or there has been no enrollment activity reported.
