PUBH 202 - Epidemiology


3 Credits
This course introduces the student to the field of epidemiology, the basic science of public health, by exploring the historical development and current uses of the field. Students will learn about epidemiological data, epidemiologic measures, and analytic tools used to describe the distribution and determinants of health outcomes in populations. The course will also cover social epidemiology, outbreak investigations, and special topics in the field. The relationship between epidemiology and health policy also will be covered.
Prerequisite(s): PUBH 101 - Introduction to Public Health  and MATH 110 - Elementary Statistics  OR PUBH 101 - Introduction to Public Health  and PSYC 261 - Statistics and Research Methods for the Behavioral Sciences I . Course exceptions with instructor approval.
