FIAR 259 - Legacy of African American Art 3 Credits A survey course that examines the African origins, cultural evolutions and social revolutions that helped to create vital visual art forms of unique quality, beauty and creativity. Painting, sculpture and other art forms are analyzed within the cultural, social, religious, economic, political and artistic context. The course examines art created by Joshua Johnston, Robert Duncanson, Edmonia Lewis, Henry Tanner, Meta Fuller, Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringgold and others.
