PHYA 530 - Essentials of Emergency Medicine 3 Credits Population-based module addressing anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, diagnostic studies, patient history, physical exam, medical procedures, clinical medicine and surgery, genetics, ethics, public health, inter-professionalism, prevention and rehabilitation relating to emergency medicine. This population-based module emphasizes stabilizing patients with life-threatening trauma or illness and selecting appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic measures. Students learn treatment of trauma and medical disorders commonly presenting to the emergency department. Prerequisite(s): PHYA 520 - Essentials of Orthopedics and Rheumatology and PHYA 521 - Essentials of Neurology and PHYA 522 - Essentials of Dermatology and PHYA 523 - Essentials of Otolaryngology and Ophthalmology (HEENT) and PHYA 524 - Essentials of Women’s Health and PHYA 527 - Clinical Integration III
