BIOL 364 - Advanced Molecular Biology 4 Credits An advanced course that focuses on current advancements in molecular biology. This course is primarily lab-based, focusing on a variety of molecular techniques used in research laboratories. A wide variety of topics and techniques will be explored including recombinant DNA technology, protein expression and detection, DNA amplification and visualization, genetic engineering and non-coding RNA and epigenetics. Students will conduct an extensive research project culminating in the isolation, cloning and expression of a functional gene and protein. Results will be presented in a publication-style scientific report. Two hours lecture, three hours lab. Laboratory fee $75.
