PUBH 490 - American Health Care Policy 3 Credits This course will review the history of health care in America, concentrating on current health care public policies (Medicaid, Medicare). Emphasis will be placed on the parties involved in shaping health care policies (insurance, providers, consumers, the food and drug industries, and federal and state governments). Consideration will be given to the ethical and political problems posed by health care issues such as affordability, substandard preventative care, class and gender inequities, and bureaucracy. Cross-listed with POLS 490 - American Health Care Policy . Prerequisite(s): Junior or Senior status and POLS 125 - American Government
