NURS 530 - Neuropsychopharmacology 3 Credits This course is designed to assist students to develop a knowledgeable and logical treatment strategy for evaluating and prescribing psychotropic medication. Topics covered are neurobiology, the biologic actions of psychotropic medications, how drug-induced modifications of brain chemistry can affect mood and behavior, and how psychotropic medication metabolism can affect overall bio-physiologic processes. The course utilizes a relevant and adaptable decision-making model that assists students to navigate the ever-increasing body of scientific information about psychotropic medications in making individualized treatment decisions.
