FIAR 269 - Latin American Art 3 Credits This course will present a broad, artistic, cultural and historical study of the continuous development of architecture, sculpture, painting and decorative arts of selected Latin American countries from 1,500 BCE to the present. An emphasis will be placed on the influence and impact of Olmec, Maya, Aztec, 16th century European contact art upon the modern art of the Mexican Muralists, Kahlo, Tamayo, Pacheco, Vazquez, Botero, Acuna and other artists from Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela. The interaction between politics, society and the arts will be investigated. The course will also examine and incorporate material about selected archaeological sites of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru and Belize. (LAS) (HE) (WR) (Core:Fine Arts)
