NURS 530 - Neuropsychopharmacology 4 Credits This course is designed to assist students to develop a knowledgeable and logical treatment strategy for evaluating and prescribing psychotropic medication. Topics covered are neurobiology, the biologic actions of psychotropic medications, how drug-induced modifications of brain chemistry can affect mood and behavior, and how psychotropic medication metabolism can affect overall bio-physiologic processes. The course utilizes a relevant and adaptable decision-making model that assists students to navigate the ever-increasing body of scientific information about psychotropic medications in making individualized treatment decisions. 150 clinical hours. Clinical fees may be associated with this course. Prerequisite(s): NURS 544 - Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment of Mental Health Conditions Other: This course will be offered at 3 credits and without clinical hours until Spring 2025
