SPEC 560 - Introduction to Autism and Neurodiverse Learners 3 Credits Focuses on historical and contemporary views of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodiverse learners regarding the characteristics, etiology, learning needs and impact on the family system. A framework will be set for understanding who a neurodiverse learner is and how to identify strengths and areas of need. Students will be introduced to an understanding and exploration of current barriers students may face and evidence-based practices that meet the unique characteristics and needs of neurodiverse learners.
