CRMJ 230 - Corrections in America 3 Credits This course examines the role of the correctional system in American society. The course will examine the history and development of corrections; philosophy of the correctional function; the role of corrections in a democratic and pluralistic society; hiring, training, and career practices and opportunities; correctional operational principles and practices; correctional subculture; correctional office discretion, corrections; prison life; offender treatment; offender reentry; and current problems and challenges confronting the correctional system. Prerequisite(s): CRMJ 102 - Introduction to Criminal Justice
