EDUC 500 - Foundations of Secondary Content 3 Credits Foundations of Secondary Content is a foundations course for the skills and content relevant to the associated subject area. Candidates pursuing licensure will build upon previous content area learnings to further develop, explore, and in some cases, be introduced to subject area skills and content necessary for teaching at the Secondary level (grades 6-12). Informing the framework of this course is the Conceptual Framework of the USJ Department of Education, the standards of the Connecticut State Department of Education, including the Common Core of Teaching. This course is paired with, and serves as the prerequisite for EDUC 512 - Teaching for Learning in the Content Areas for graduate teacher candidates, collectively preparing candidates for the content and pedagogical content knowledge required for effective instruction.
