BIOL 232 - Science Communication 2 Credits This course provides an overview of science communication with a focus on how information is presented in both professional and popular media. In addition to learning effective oral and written communication skills, students will evaluate the validity of sources that report scientific discoveries and learn how to find reliable sources, particularly for controversial topics. We will also explore how science communication varies across professional sources (scientific journals), secondary sources (news, magazines), and social media. Students will develop a project to share exciting new science through a popular media type of their choosing such as video presentation, blog post, or infographic.
