PUBH 501 - Fundamentals of Public Health 3 Credits Public health is responsible for much of the increase in health and life expectancy during the last century, and continues to have an essential role in promoting and maintaining population health. The purpose of the course is to provide students with the knowledge of the history, purpose, core functions, organization, and applications of public health practice. Students will be introduced to the core disciplines of public health and become familiar with the tools and analytic techniques used to address problems in public health practice. During the course, students will be challenged to think critically about current problems in public health. Application of public health research and practice to other health disciplines will be emphasized throughout the course.
