ENGR 310 - Engineering Mechanics: Statics 3 Credits This course serves as an introduction the principles of mechanics and their application to engineering systems in equilibrium. Topics include: force vectors and vector operations; force system resultants, moments of forces and distributed loads; equilibrium of rigid bodies; structural analysis of trusses, frames and machines; internal forces including the shearing force, normal force and bending moment; frictional forces; centers of gravity and centroids; moments of inertia; the principle of virtual work. Prerequisite(s): MATH 220 - Calculus III and PHYS 140 - Introductory Physics II
