MATH 170 - Calculus I 4 Credits This course offers an in-depth introduction to limits, continuity, derivatives, and applications of differential calculus. Emphasis is placed on conceptual understanding and physical and geometric interpretations of concepts. The course also focuses on strategies for problem solving, communication, and logical reasoning. A solid background in algebra and precalculus is assumed, including functions, trigonometry, exponential and logarithmic functions, and algebraic fluency. Three hours lecture, two hours laboratory per week. (LAS) (Core: Math) Prerequisite(s): MATH 160 - Precalculus , or high school precalculus with a B or better, or permission of instructor
