NURS 591 - Advanced Practice in Gender-Related Health 4 Credits In this clinical course, students examine the impact of gender on wellness and illness. The role and functions of the advanced practice nurse are explored in meeting the sexual and reproductive healthcare needs for all individuals from puberty to end of life, within the context of the individual, family, culture, and community. There is a particular focus on meeting the needs of those experiencing healthcare disparities related to their gender. Social determinants of health and cultural considerations in the advanced practice role are woven throughout this course. Students complete 150 clinical hours in this course. Clinical fees may be associated with this course. Prerequisite(s): NURS 544 - Assessment, Diagnosis, and Management of Mental Health Conditions
