CHEM 230 - Introduction to Organic Chemistry 4 Credits Basic principles of organic chemistry with focus on structure and nomenclature, properties and reactions of the following organic families: alkanes, alkenes, alcohols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, esters, amines and amides. Special emphasis on applications to health-related fields. (LAS) Prerequisite(s): One semester of college-level General/Inorganic Chemistry with a grade of B or better. Permission of department chair only.
