PHYS 130 - Introductory Physics I 4 Credits Nature plays by a set of rules called the “laws of physics”. In this two term sequence, (PHYS 130 and ), we will explore the cosmos, and humanity’s place in it, as revealed by these fundamental laws of nature. Topics include: the history and philosphy of science, motion, force, gravity, energy, work, momentum, rotational systems, thermodynamics, and Einstein’s general theory of relativity. Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory per week. Laboratory fee: $50. (LAS) (SI) Prerequisite(s): Three years of high school mathematics including trigonometry; or would be useful, but are not required.
