EDUC 587 - Public School Law 3 Credits The course explores legal and law-related issues that arise in both elementary and secondary schools that affect both students and school personnel. The law is examined through the lens of social justice as a means of expanding access to appropriate public education for a diverse population of students. Objectives include:
- Knowledge of the role of the legal structure of education in local, state, and federal governments
- Methods of approach and the analytic skills needed to deal effectively with legal issues
- Skills to process difficult questions of ethics and policy that legal disputes raise.
