The Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction is a 30-credit master’s degree program for those candidates seeking to gain advanced knowledge in curriculum planning and pedagogies. The cohort format of the program provides multiple opportunities to collaborate with other educators throughout the two-year program. The 10-course sequence concludes with a capstone project, a culminating experience designed to focus on integration of major concepts related to curriculum development and instructional strategies with implication for classroom practice and leadership. The capstone project is embedded in the final courses of the program.
Acceptance requirements
- Graduate admission application and nonrefundable admission fee
- A conferred bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5
- Two official transcripts of all undergraduate work and an unofficial transcript of any prior graduate work
- One letter of recommendation from an individual who can attest to the candidate’s suitability for graduate studies in education
- Completion of intent form
Continuation Requirements
Candidates must earn a C or better in all courses for continuous progress through the program. After 12 credits, candidates must maintain a GPA of 2.67 or higher throughout the program.
Exit Requirements
Students must complete a capstone project as a culminating experience in order to meet the university Master of Arts requirement.
