Education, M.A. Personalized Professional Pathways

The M.A. in Education, Personalized Professional Pathways Concentration is a 30-credit master’s degree program designed to meet individualized professional development goals of educators in the context of increasingly diverse and challenging P12 classrooms. The curriculum reflects the varied goals goals of teachers who may need to create change through incorporating instructional technology; address concerns for the learning needs of neurodiverse and English learners; and find new ways to engage reluctant learners. Through customizable learning pathways, educators will be able to shape their graduate studies to meet their objectives.

Building on proven strengths of a cohort model, candidates for this degree will begin their graduate studies together in a course that examines current educational issues in depth. They will be required to complete three additional courses with cohort members in the final phase of their program, bringing together educational concepts, areas of professional focus, and active exploration of research in their area of interest. Of the 10 courses, candidates will self-select six courses to enhance their professional practice through an individual program of studies.

Acceptance requirements

1. Graduate admission application and nonrefundable admission fee
2. A conferred bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
3. A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5
4. Two sealed official transcripts of all undergraduate work and an unofficial transcript of any prior graduate work
5. One letter of recommendation from individuals who can attest to the candidate’s suitability for graduate studies in education
6. Completion of intent form

Continuation

Candidates must earn a C or better in all courses for continuous progress through the program. After 12 credits, candidates must maintain a GPA of 2.67 or higher throughout the program.

Exit requirements

Students must complete a capstone project in order to meet University requirements for the Master of Arts degree. The capstone project is embedded in the final course.
