Environmental science is the study of the interactions between the abiotic (physical and chemical) and biotic (living) components of nature. It also incorporates an understanding of how humans (biologically, culturally, economically, etc.) influence and are influenced by the environment. The focus of environmental science is both to study environmental systems and to work towards solving problems stemming from human interactions with the environment. Students will have the opportunity throughout the curriculum to focus on project based learning in the community through lecture courses, lab work, internships, and partnerships with local conservation organizations. The multidisciplinary nature of environmental science means that graduates from an Environmental Science program will be able to use their knowledge in a variety of careers.
