Environmental science is the study of the interactions between the abiotic (physical and chemical) and biotic (living) components of nature. It also incorporates an understanding of how humans (biologically, culturally, economically, etc.) influence and are influenced by the environment. The focus of environmental science is both to study environmental systems and to work towards solving problems stemming from human interactions with the environment. The multidisciplinary nature of environmental science means that Environmental Science Certificate earners will be able to use their knowledge in a variety of careers.
