SPEC 576 - Advanced Practicum I: Direct Service Application for Lead Interns


3 Credits
Part of the Literacy Internship Program for licensed teachers/graduate candidates in the second year of the two-year program. This is a semester field assignment of four and a half days per week. The emphasis is on early intervention strategies in diagnosis and remediation of primary grade remedial-needs students in Reading/Language Arts. Experiences include intensive remedial, diagnostic, direct instruction to students and professional support for the first-year interns. Prerequisite(s): SPEC 545 - Seminar in Remedial Reading and Related Instructional Theory , SPEC 546 - Advanced Seminar in Writing and Related Instructional Theory , SPEC 548 - Practicum II: Theory into Practice  or comparable experiences
Corequisite(s): SPEC 574 - Seminar: Early Intervention and the Emergent Reader
