SOCW 653 - Depression and Anxiety Disorders: Identification and Treatment 3 Credits Major depression is one of the most common mental health disorders in the United States and many times is co-morbid with an anxiety disorder. Despite being a common mental health disorder, treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders are complicated by identification of the disorders, co-morbid physical and mental health conditions, age and cultural related factors, and economic factors. This course provides students with an in-depth analysis of depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, integrated treatment depressive and anxiety disorders, and psychopharmacology of these disorders; particular attention is directed toward cultural variations in the presentation and treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders.
