BIOL 502 - Ornithology
3 Credits
This course will introduce you to the basic Biology and taxonomy of birds, familiarize you with the identification of the local avifauna, introduce you to techniques used to study birds, and teach why they are important to humans and ecosystems. This will be accomplished through the use of a textbook, research of current literature, and your own field trips where you live. You should expect to learn how birds are physically different, how they migrate, what social systems they form, what are their mating systems, why certain types of birds inhabit certain ecosystems, and why birds are important parts of that ecosystem to warrant such comprehensive research.
