EDUC 608 - Teaching English Literacy to Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners 3 Credits In this advanced course in the teaching of culturally and linguistically diverse learners in the K-12 classroom, students will explore the current legal, socio-cultural context of learning for diverse learners. Content will focus on the examination of psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic principles that are based on modern methods of learning a second language. Students will also examine, analyze, practice and apply multiple strategies for teaching subject content, and learn course content through the kinds of experiential, participatory, and process-oriented strategies that are used in successful bilingual/English language development classrooms. Field experience required.
