CHEM 171 - Introduction to General, Organic, and Biochemistry B 2 Credits Basic principles of Organic Chemistry with focus on structure and nomenclature, properties and reactions of the following organic families: alkanes, alkenes, alcohols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, esters, amines and amides. Special emphasis on applications to health-related fields. Not intended for majors in biology, chemistry, or students planning to apply to a professional school in medical sciences (premedical, predental, etc.) Prerequisite(s): CHEM 176 - Fundamental Chemical Principles II with a grade of C- or better or permission of the department chair
