Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), M.A.


The Master of Arts in TESOL Education provides in service teachers with knowledge, skills and strategies to support English learners (EL) in classrooms and schools.

Acceptance requirements

  • Admission application and nonrefundable $50 admission fee
  • A conferred bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.50
  • Two official transcripts of all undergraduate work and any prior graduate work
  • One letter of recommendation from an individual who can attest to the candidate’s suitability for graduate studies in education
  • Completion of intent form

Continuation requirements

Candidates must earn a C or better in all courses for continuous progress through the program. After 12 credits, candidates must maintain a GPA of 2.67 or higher throughout the program.

Exit requirements

Successful completion of the captstone practicum EDUC 579 - TESOL Practicum  

 

Required courses (30 credits)


The program includes all required courses for Connecticut teachers holding a teaching license to be eligible for cross-endorsement in TESOL and bilingual education. There are no electives in the program.
