4+3 Exercise Science B.S. to Doctor of Physical Therapy


The University of Saint Joseph offers a dual degree program leading to a Exercise Science, B.S.  and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Students who qualify for this program are able to earn their bachelor’s degree at the University of Saint Joseph and then move to their DPT program at the University of Hartford. 

Students complete their prerequisite courses for the DPT program while completing their Exercise Science degree at USJ and then apply to the University of Hartford DPT program where there are 6 admissions vacancies for qualified USJ students who are Biology, Health Science, or Exercise Science majors.

Students are required to complete all requirements in the general track of the Exercise Science, B.S.   with the exception of EXSC 100, EXSC 120, and CHEM 170.

Requirements


  • An overall prerequisite GPA of 3.2 and a science GPA of 3.2 is required with no grade lower than a C.
  • Classes may not be repeated more than once.
  • All science and exercise physiology courses must be taken at the University of Saint Joseph, or if transferring into USJ, then any science and exercise science courses may only be transferred in from a 4-year, regionally accredited college or university.

Additional DPT Requirements


Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of 10 hours (recommended at least 25) of observation in a physical therapy setting.
