SPEC 575 - Seminar: Current Research and the Emergent Reader
3 Credits Part of the Literacy Internship Program for licensed teachers/graduate candidates participating in the second year of the two-year program. Advanced level, specialized weekly seminars exploring the current research in emergent literacy. Topics include models of the reading process, language acquisition, role of text structure, meta-cognitive and schema theory, the role of home background factors, and the translation of research findings to classroom practice.
